Windsurfing: Pevensey Bay Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: 20mph Surf / Sea State: some small waves, but relative Air Temperature: 10 degC Sea Temperature: ok Weather: not raining, windy, if a bit gusty, and over 10degC Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Early(ish) start due to 2pm high tide and 30mph SSW winds forecast .....
high tide was indeed 2pm, rest was not so accurate.
Got to beach to find Rich (Usurf) there with couple other local regulars.
Windy was showing 14-25mph ..... where the f*ck was the 30mph we were
promised?
Rigged 5.8m Poison on 3S97 again, but hoped that I might be overpowered
..... sadly not the case.
Our old friend, the rip current got all excitable as the tide came up and
with wind and tide all pushing east it became quite a task holding
position, especially if stood in the shallows !!
It was a case of pinching upwind going out, unless tempted by a nice ramp,
and picking a decent wave to shred coming back in. Jumping seemed to lose
ground downwind, as did riding the waves ..... but that was why I went out
in the first place so walking was on the agenda at some stage.
Having sailed out of Rosetti, I finished my session at the car park couple
hundred metres downwind. I could probably have sailed back upwind by
heading right out the back, but I'd had a good couple of hours and opted to
walk back and fetch the van, and de-rig at the car park. The guys back at
Rosetti took the p*ss a bit, but some of them had done the walk back from
the car park with their kit, twice! Must be getting lazy in my old age.
